Bhakkar

Bhakkar
Town situated south of Multan on an island in the Indus River. At the time of Muhammad Ghauri's death (1206), Nasir al-Din Qubacha set himself up as an independent king at Uchch and occupied Bhakkar. Iltutmish annexed Bhakkar to the Delhi sultanate in 1227. Around 1257, Bhakkar, like Multan and Lahore, had passed under the control of the Mongols. Bhakkar came to be effectively ruled from Delhi only under the Tughlaqs (1320-1388). After Firuz Shah (1351-1388), it passed to the control of local authorities.
